Part 2 of this catalogue included all Turkish MSS acquired before 1900, compiled by H. Ethe (out of print since 1958). A supplementary catalogue has now been compiled by Professor Gunay Kut, Kemal Ataturk Visiting Fellow in the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Oxford 1989-90, which contains all Turkish MSS acquired by the Bodleian Library since 1900. Both the supplementary catalogue (approximately 356 entries) and a reprint of the original catalogue (approximately 280 entries) are issued as one volume, with an introduction by Professor Kut, an explanation of the numbering to be used, and a romanization table. The volume will contain fully cross-referenced name and title indexes covering Ethe as well as the supplementary catalogue. The entries are classified under subjects such as the Koran, Sufism, Islamic history and legend, jurisprudence, history, biography, medicine, botany, geography, divans and mesnevis, encyclopedias, dictionaries and grammars: the catalogue throws light on almost all scholarly aspects of the Turkish world.
