Summary: The concept of Six Sigma is to eliminate defects and can be applied in the library science field to maximize the users satisfaction by eliminating their complaints and problems. In todays era, the library user is known as the customer and the librarian is the information manager. If we consider a library as a corporate entity, Six Sigma would ensure the users needs are properly and fully catered. The Six Sigma methodologies for quality improvement is a system of many concepts, tools, and principles. A gauge of quality and efficiency, Six Sigma is also a measure of excellence. Embarking on a Six Sigma program means delivering top-quality service and products while virtually eliminating all internal inefficiencies. A true Six Sigma organization produces, not only an excellent product, but also maintains highly efficient production and administrative systems that work effectively with the organizations other service processes. The primary factor in the successful implementation of a Six Sigma project is to have all the necessary resources and the support and leadership of the top management. This book contains papers presented at a one-day national level conference in India on the Application of Six Sigma in Library Science Field and includes contributions from eminent Indian scholars. The book will be a valuable addition to any library, providing insight on Six Sigma.
