Summary: Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) provides information on important characteristics of registered manufacturing sector for objectively evaluating the industrial scenario of India. It helps planners and policy makers in farming policies for faster industrial development and also removing regional imbalances. The ASI 2016-17 publications contains detailed results of factory sector in two volumes reflecting important economic characteristics at 2/3-digit level of industrial classification by States/Union Territories and 4-digit level of industrial classification at all India level. The Volume-I presents data relating to capital, employments and several economic parameters relevant to industrial sector which, among others, include (i) number of factories; (ii) fixed/working capital; (iii) total input; (iv) total output; (v) depreciation; (vi) net value added etc. For the benefit of the users, a section on Highlights of Key Results of ASI 2016-17 has been included in Volume-I. The Volume -II of the publication provides details on material consumed and ex-factory value of products and by-products both bat all India level as well as at the level of State/UTs. This volume is published in e-media (CD-ROM, Accession No. RD 240). In addition to Vol. I and Vol. II, "Summary Results of Factory Sector" is also brought out as a separate publication based on ASI 2016-17 results for easy comprehension.
