The present paper looks at the participation of workers in the management of State-owned companies in Chile ( or those in the process of being acquired by the State) during the years of the Allende government (1970-1973). It examines how representatives and leaders of the participatory organizational structure were democratically elected by workers at a national level, under the aegis of the central trade union body.
